TEPAV attended the inaugural edition of the annual "Sagarmanthan: The Great Oceans Dialogue" held on November 18–19, 2024, in New Delhi, India. The event was co-hosted by the Observer Research Foundation and the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) of India. It brought together leaders and policymakers, strategic thinkers, scholars, intergovernmental organizations, maritime policy research institutions, media, civil society, and industry stakeholders.
The meeting was inaugurated by T. K. Ramachandran, Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, India; María Lorena Villaverde, National Representative for the Province of Rio Negro, Argentina; Amzath Ahmed, Minister of State for Fisheries and Ocean Resources, Maldives; Shantanu Thakur, Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, India; Christos Stylianides, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, Greece; and Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, India.
Feride İnan from TEPAV participated as a panelist in the session titled "Shaping Investment Flows: The Oceans Imperative for the Global South," moderated by Kanishka Narayan, Member of Parliament, United Kingdom. Other panelists included Harry Theoharis, Member of Parliament, Greece; Juita Mohamad, Resource Person for the All-Party Parliament Group on SDGs, Malaysia; Renato Flôres, Director of the International Intelligence Unit at Fundação Getulio Vargas, Brazil; and Tomasz Łukaszuk, Former Ambassador of Poland to India.
Additionally, Feride İnan and Güven Sak contributed an essay titled "Rethinking the Global Trade Infrastructure," published in Sagarmanthan Edit 2024, a collection of essays that set the context for discussions on the current state and future of the maritime sector.
