71th Issue of TEPAV Employment Bulletin Is Published
Using the Social Security Institution (SGK) data for January 2018 and İSKUR data for February 2018, the 71st issue of TEPAV’s Employment Monitoring Bulletin indicates that while the number of employees in formal employment increased by 1 million 102 thousand, the increase was due to SMEs whose employment increased by 903 thousand.
The sector with the highest increase in the number of employees in formal employment (4/a) is construction of building sector with an increase of 185 thousand. This sector is followed by education with an increase of 78 thousand, public administration and defence; compulsory social security with an increase of 68 thousand, retail trade with an increase of 61 thousand, services to buildings and landscape activities with an increase of 55 thousand.
The province in which the number of employees increased the most is İstanbul with an increase of 186 thousand. İstanbul is followed by Ankara with an increase of 74 thousand, İzmir with an increase of 66 thousand, Bursa and Antalya with an increase of 45 thousand each.
Construction and building sector is the sector where the number of SME employees increased the most (164 thousand). This sector is followed by the retail trade sector with 62 thousand, the education sector with 61 thousand, the food and beverage service activities sector with 51 thousand, and wholesale trade sector with 48 thousand.
