ANKARA- With a meeting held at TEPAV, World Bank report "Energy Outlook in Eastern Europe and the Central Asia" was presented by Kari Nyman, Senior Director in the Europe and Central Asia Region in Infrastructure and Energy Sector Department.
Delivering an opening speech, Ulrich Zachau, World Bank Country Director for Turkey, underlined that significant opportunities in energy investments emerged after the crisis and said: "The World Bank supports Turkey's energy strategy".
In his presentation, Kari Nyman stressed that Eastern Europe and the Central Asia will be facing a severe energy bottleneck if $3.3 trillion of energy investments are not made in the coming decade.
Expressing that they do not expect privatizations in the energy sector in Turkey, Nyman maintained: "The current system works successfully. The system is privatized in half. Privatizations will continue. Privatization of the electricity generation system will be the next step. The Ministry of Finance mentioned the privatization of the installed power of 60 thousand megawatts. We also know the hydroelectricity capacity to be offered for privatization. Turkey's market is quite attractive for the private sector."
