61st Issue of TEPAV Employment Monitoring Bulletin is Published
Using the Social Security Institution (SGK) data for January 2017, the 61st issue of TEPAV’s Employment Monitoring Bulletin indicates that the number of employees in formal employment increased by 312 thousand in January 2017 compared to January 2016, and the number of SME employees decreased by 88 thousand.
The sector with the highest increase in the number of employees in formal employment (4/a) in January 2017 compared to January 2016 is education sector with an increase of 394 thousand. The increase in the number of employees in formal employment (4/a) was largely due to the increase in the education.
Service to buildings and landscape activities sector is the sector where the number of SME employees decreased the most with 66 thousand. This sector is followed by the construction of building sector with 58 thousand, the foresty and logging sector with 25 thousand, the land transport and transport via pipelines sector with 23 thousand, and civil engineering sector with 12 thousand.
The province in which the number of SME employees declined the most is İstanbul with a decrease of 72 thousand. İstanbul is followed by Antalya with a decrease of 23 thousand, Ankara with a decrease of 10 thousand, Eskişehir, and Nevşehir with 4 thousand each.
