A round-table meeting on "The Experiences of the Business World in Slovakia During EU Accession Process and After Becoming a Member" was held in TEPAV on the 12th of May 2008. The key-note speaker of the event was Mr. Peter Mihok who is the Vice President of EUROCHAMBRES and President of the Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The meeting was moderated by the President of TOBB EU Harmonization Committee, Mr. Osman Kocaman.
During his presentation, Mr. Mihok highlighted Slovakia's experience through EU accession process with a special emphasis on the awareness raising campaigns for the business world in Slovakia. To inform the business world in Slovakia regarding the EU institutions and how they function, a "European Handbook" was prepared and guidelines about the business related negotiation topics were published and distributed to the private sector companies. Mr. Mihok also mentioned the importance of public and private sector collaboration during EU accession and explained how this relationship facilitated the membership procedure.
The Ambassador of Slovakia to Turkey, Vladimir Jakabcin also attended to the meeting and H.E. stated that Slovakia is a country that supports Turkey's full membership to the EU and relations between the two countries continues at every level.
