Izmir Regional Plan designates the regional needs, priorities and targets of the city in terms of economic, social and cultural development.
IZMIR – TEPAV gives support to the “Izmir Regional Plan” coordinated by Izmir Development Agency (İZKA) to guide the city’s development vision for the 2014-2018 period.
The preliminary meeting of the plan was held on Friday, September 21 2012 in Aegean Region Chamber of Industry (EBSO) with the participation of experts and representatives from İZKA, the Ministry of Development, TEPAV, South Marmara Development Agency, South Aegean Development Agency, Zafer Development Agency, Development Bank and the experts coming from universities located in Izmir.
Delivering the keynote speech of the meeting moderated by İlhan Tekeli of METU Department of City And Regional Planning, Ergüder Can, Secretary General of İZKA, said that academics and researchers coming together from variety of disciplines, universities and think-tanks with their scientific research would contribute to decision-making process which will carry Izmir to the future.
In the session that regional plan analyses were evaluated, Ussal Şahbaz, TEPAV Economic Policy Analyst, shared the results of the analysis “Strategy of Izmir Local Entrepreneurship Ecosystem”. Şahbaz stated that they did not suggest the popular model of “Silicon Valley” for Izmir and that they were in search of diverse solutions for the development of Izmir.
