The study titled “Turkey National Needs Assessment of State School English Language Teaching” jointly carried out by TEPAV and the British Council was presented to the Minister of National Education Nabi Avcı on 13 March 2014.
The presentation involved the key findings of the study, which took departure from the question of how English language teaching in Turkey may be improved in order to produce students with the foreign language skills necessary to contribute meaningfully to the ambition to position Turkey as one of the top ten global economies by 2023. The study relies on the economic analysis of TEPAV as well as a mass survey administered to almost 20,000 students, parents and teachers of English.
