The number of agricultural workers decreased in all provinces except Gaziantep.
ANKARA - As of August 2013, the number of registered agricultural workers decreased year-on-year by 10 percent (114,749 people), down to 986,334.
The TEPAV Employment Monitoring Bulletin reported that Samsun, Konya, and Balıkesir were the provinces that experienced the highest drop in numbers. In these, registered agricultural employment decreased by 5,781 (16 percent), 5,733 (10 percent), and 5,130 (14 percent), respectively.
Bayburt was another province that experienced the largest percentage loss in registered employment in agriculture. Between August 2012 and 2013, the number of registered agricultural workers in Bayburt decreased by 21 percent from 2,882 to 2,290.
