Hugh Pope, who is the senior analyst at International Crisis Group (ICG), presented ICG's new report on Cyprus titled "Reunifying Cyprus: The Best Chance Yet" on July 3, 2008.
TEPAV organized a round-table meeting on Cyprus with Hugh Pope as the main speaker. As the main writer of ICG's most recent report on Cyprus, Pope gave information about the outcomes of the report. He mentioned that the technical committees on the island are regularly meeting and progress on issues affecting daily lives of the people has been made. He also said that the existence of two leaders on both sides, Mehmet Ali Talat and Dimitris Hristofyas, that trust each other and that want a solution is a very positive development and it creates a good opportunity to seek for a solution on the island. In the last section of his speech, Pope listed some of the recommendations suggested by the ICG report in order to reach a solution.
