The 6th annual “Merih Celasun Memorial Day” will be held virtually on Tuesday, December 15th, 2020 The “Monopolization and Market Competition in Turkey and around the World” memorial lecture will be given by Dr. Ufuk Akçiğit.

TEPAV is organizing the “Merih Celasun Memorial Day" to commemorate the outstanding career of Prof. Dr. Merih Celasun who passed away in 2004. He worked at the State Planning Organization of Turkey in charge of economic planning, and later at the Middle East Technical University (METU) and Bilkent University as a professor. Throughout his career, Prof. Celasun introduced innovative solutions that applied scientific thinking towards economic policies for Turkey’s economic and structural problems. The 6^th annual “Merih Celasun Memorial Day” will be held virtually on Tuesday, December 15^th, 2020, between 4.00 – 6.00 pm. (GMT+3)

As with previous years, since 2010, the event will host a "Merih Celasun Memorial Day Lecture" to be given by a renowned academic. The “Monopolization and Market Competition in Turkey and around the World” memorial lecture will be given by this year’s guest, Prof. Dr. Ufuk Akçiğit.

Following the memorial lecture, a panel moderated by Ussal Şahbaz, founder of Şahbaz Danışmanlık, will host TOBB E-Commerce President Ozan Acar, University of Chicago Professor Ufuk Akçiğit, METU Economics Department Professor Erol Taymaz, and METU Economic Department Professor Ebru Voyvoda as speakers.
