Burcu Aydın, PhD, graduated from Bilkent University, Department of Business Administration in 2003, as an Honors List Student. She received her Master's and Doctorate degrees in Economics from the University of Southern California, USA, in 2005 and 2007.
From 2006 to 2012, she worked at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), in Washington, DC, as an economist. At the IMF, she helped develop policy frameworks on macro-financial stability in developed and emerging market economies of Europe, Africa and Asia, and produced comprehensive research papers on these topics. Her research work was published in various articles and books.
From 2012 to 2018, she worked at the Turkish Ministry of Treasury and Finance, first as the chief economic advisor to the Minister of Finance and the Deputy Prime Minister, and then as the Director of Revenue Policies. During her employment at the Ministry, she contributed to the preparation of Medium-Term Economic Program, Central and General Government Budgets, Tax Expenditures Reports, planning of expenditure and income policies and the monitoring of their results, and the execution of international financial relations. She also served as a member of the Board of Directors at Sümer Holding and Vakıf Investment Bank to ensure a more efficient operation of the State-Owned Economic Enterprises.
As of 2019, she has been working as a part-time faculty member at Bilkent University, Department of Economics. She is an economics commentator and writer for Bloomberg HT, Ekotürk TV and Turkish Tax News. She serves as a member of the Board of Directors of some leading private sector companies in Turkey. She also started Hurra Lingo and Hurra Turkiye edu-tech companies providing online education services to children.
She is also active in public services. She is a member of ANGİKAD Women’s Assosiation, Social Sciences Research Network, USC Alumni Association, Bilkent Alumni Association, and Galatasaray Sports Club General Assembly.
She is fluent in English, and is an intermediate level Spanish and German speaker. She enjoys reading literature, watching independent movies and listening to various kinds of music.
Burcu Aydın Özüdogru joined TEPAV as the Director of the Economic and Structural Policies Center in 2023.
