Final meeting of the project “Managing Complexity in the G20” was held in Istanbul.
ISTANBUL – Final meeting of the project entitled “Managing Complexity in the G20” coordinated by TEPAV and Chatham House under the financing of British Embassy through the Global Prosperity Fund was held.
An event was organized by TEPAV, British Embassy and Chatham House in the scope of the project called “Managing Complexity in the G20” aimed at strengthening the inclusive governance agenda of G20 ahead of Turkey’s presidency in 2015. During the event entitled “Towards Inclusive Policy Coordination: Turkey’s G20 Presidency in 2015” held on February 9th at Kadir Has University, outputs of the project and joint recommendations of TEPAV and the Chatham House were disseminated and discussed.
Opening remarks were delivered by Güven Sak, TEPAV Managing Director, and Rafe Courage, British Consulate, Deputy Consul-General. Following the opening remarks was a panel session to discuss joint recommendations of TEPAV and the Chatham House.
Moderated by Domenico Lombardi, Director of Global Economy Program of CIGI, Güven Sak and Paola Subacchi Chatham House Research Director for International Economics presented recommendations for Turkey’s G20 presidency in 2015. International experts from Coalition for Dialogue on Africa (CoDA), Executive Director Mrs. Rahel Kassahun and from Peking University, the Director of Center for International Political Economy Mr. Yong Wang commented on the recommendations during the panel discussion.
TEPAV Director Güven Sak highlighted the need for a refined jobs and growth agenda for the G20. Sak put special emphasis on the need for inclusiveness and focus on connectivity-enhancing infrastructure projects. Joint recommendations of TEPAV and Chatham House for the G20 in 2015 fall into five main categories:
